چکیده

We report magnetization and specific-heat measurements on polycrystalline samples of BaCdVO PO4 2 and show that this compound is a S=1 /2 frustrated square lattice with ferromagnetic nearest-neighbor J1 and antiferromagnetic next-nearest-neighbor J2 interactions. The coupling constants J1 −3.6 K and J2 3.2 K are determined from a fitting of the susceptibility data and confirmed by an analysis of the saturation field 0Hs 4.2 T , the specific heat, and the magnetic entropy. BaCdVO PO4 2 undergoes magnetic ordering at about 1 K, likely toward a columnar antiferromagnetic state. We find that BaCdVO PO4 2 with the frustration ratio =J2 /J1 −0.9 is closer to a critical quantum spin liquid region of the frustrated square lattice than any of the previously reported compounds. Positive curvature of the magnetization curve is observed in agreement with recent theoretical predictions for high-field properties of the frustrated square lattice close to the critical regime.

Magnetic Properties in a Spin-1 Random Transverse Ising Model on Square Lattice

In this paper we investigate the effect of a random transverse field, distributed according to a trimodal distribution, on the phase diagram and magnetic properties of a two-dimensional lattice (square with z=4),  ferromagnetic Ising system consisting of magnetic atoms with spin-1. This study is done using the effectivefield theory (EFT) with correlations method. The equations are derived using...

Se p 20 06 Two - dimensional frustrated spin systems in high magnetic fields

We discuss our numerical results on the properties of the S = 1/2 frustrated J1-J2 Heisenberg model on a square lattice as a function of temperature and frustration angle φ = tan −1 (J2/J1) in an applied magnetic field. We cover the full phase diagram of the model in the range −π ≤ φ ≤ π. The discussion includes the parameter dependence of the saturation field itself, and addresses the instabil...

Modified Spin Wave Thoery of the Bilayer Square Lattice Frustrated Quantum Heisenberg Antiferromagnet

The ground state of the square lattice bilayer quantum antiferromagnet with nearest and next-nearest neighbour intralayer interaction is studied by means of the modified spin wave method. For weak interlayer coupling, the ground state is found to be always magnetically ordered while the quantum disordered phase appear for large enough interlayer coupling. The properties of the disordered phase ...

Finite temperature properties and frustrated ferromagnetism in a square lattice Heisenberg model

The spin 1/2 Heisenberg model on a square lattice with antiferromagnetic nearestand next-nearest neighbour interactions (the J1–J2 model) has long been studied as a paradigm of a two-dimensional frustrated quantum magnet. Only very recently, however, have the first experimental realisations of such systems been synthesized. The newest material, Pb2VO(PO4)2 seems to have mixed ferro– and antifer...

Frustrated Quantum Antiferromagnets: Application of High-order Coupled Cluster Method

We report on recent results for strongly frustrated quantum J1–J2 antiferromagnets in dimensionality d = 1, 2, 3 obtained by the coupled cluster method (CCM). We demonstrate that the CCM in high orders of approximation allows us to investigate quantum phase transitions driven by frustration and to discuss novel quantum ground states. In detail we consider the ground-state properties of (i) the ...
